JAGERTA WELFARE ASSOCIATION OF HUMAN ORGANIZATION (JWAHO) District KAMBER SHAHDADKOT
Jagerta Welfare Association of Human Organization (JWAHO) is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization working in district Kamber-shahdadkot. A group of dedicated and committed friends has been working informally since 2005 some of them have worked together with local organizations during the flood emergency of 1994.
Later on, it was decided that there should have a platform from where such activities may be carried out systematically. Thus the name Jagerta (Awareness) was chosen to enlighten the communities living in the remote areas of the district who do not entertain even the basic facilities guaranteed by the constitution of Pakistan.
Jagerta Welfare Association and Human Organization (JWAHO) were registered under the social voluntary Act 1961 with Social Welfare and Community Development Department, Government of Sindh on January 18th, 2010 bearing registration number VA-33.
MISSION:
To enlighten the communities living in the remote areas of the district who do not entertain even the basic facilities as guaranteed by the constitution of Pakistan.
PROGRAMME AREAS:
Thematically Jagerta welfare association of human organization (JWAHO) has been working on the following areas of work.
- DISASTER MANAGEMENT.
- EDUCATION.
- ENVIRONMENT.
- HEALTH.
- LIVELIHOOD.
DISASTERS:
Jagerta welfare association of human organization (JWAHO) has coordinated with INGOs, NGOs as well as line departments for the betterment of backward areas of the geographical area of JWAHO in north Sindh.
Supported; conducting assessment together with NGOs and national NGOs in district Kambar Shahdadkot.
Provided human resources to some NGOs such as facilitation in District Kambar Shahdadkot.
HUMAN RIGHTS:
- Continued human rights activities in District Kambar Shahdadkot with the human right forum
- Conducted human rights awareness seminars in Kambar Shahdadkot
- Organized debates in schools for human rights awareness
- Conducted seminars on violence against women
- Conducted seminars on child rights
- Conducted seminars on women's rights
- Organized theatres on violence against women
- Conducted seminars on citizen rights
HEALTH:
- Community mobilization for blood donating
- The updated list of 500 blood donors
- JWAHO has hundreds of blood donor
- JWAHO has been donating blood to hundreds of people free of cost since 1994.
- Donating blood to patients of THALASSEMIA every year in Shahdadkot and its surroundings
- Conducted seminars on health awareness
EDUCATION:
- Lobbing with line department for better facilities in schools and quality education
- Provided facilitation in the assessment of SEF Schools in the area
- Organized debates in schools
- Conducted lectures in schools
- Community mobilization for girl’s education
ENVIRONMENT:
- Conducted awareness sessions on the environment in schools
- Conducted awareness sessions on tree plantations in villages
- Celebrated environment day
EARTH-DAY:
- Celebrated; environment day for the conservation of natural resources.
- Arranged Debate competitions in primary schools to highlight the importance of the environment for the survival of human beings.
WOMEN DAY:
- Women's day was celebrated in which a good number of women and children participated.
- JWAHO organized awareness sessions for women's participation in social activities
HANDICRAFT:
JWAHO has been providing technical expertise to girls (free of cost) in local embroidery and market the purpose of providing this training is to make them able to earn income generation for their families in a dignified manner
JWAHO has trained 50 girls free of cost for embroidery and made them able to earn income generation for their families in a dignified manner
WASH:
JWAHO organized awareness sessions in different villages of District Kambar Shahdadkot.
